Can you tell me more about your fabric?
Our UPF 50+ Recycled Polyester Spandex blend fabric, made from rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate), significantly reduces environmental impact by repurposing plastic waste. The sun-protective factor is achieved through the weave of the fabric, not through the application of toxic chemicals. By using recycled materials, we contribute to the reduction of plastic pollution in oceans and landfills.
The fabric can be recycled and reused, which can save energy, oil consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Each pound of recycled rPET fabric can save 61,000 BTU of energy, which is equivalent to 21 pounds of carbon dioxide. This approach helps conserve natural resources and reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions compared to producing virgin polyester.
